Go For Two

Go for Two is Ipi Tombe's third foal, a dark bay colt by Giant's Causeway born February 9, 2009. I took this photo on July 16, 2009, about a week after he was weaned. He was big, and I was pleased to see he had the same beautiful manners as his dam.

As a yearling, GFT went through the ring at the Keeneland September Sale on September 12, 2010, as Hip #51 in Book 1. Bidding reached $290,000, but he RNAed and was retained by his breeder. (Apologies for the pixellated photo. The live video feed was stretched horizontally, so I've fixed it as well as I could.) After being gelded, Go For Two made his second start for his new owner on June 2, 2012, at Belmont in a $25,000 8.5 furlong turf maiden claimer. He ran wide throughout but well in hand, and after making a move at the 5/16ths pole, he was forced wide again into the stretch and faded to 9th. After a 3 month break, Go For Two returned to the worktab. A switch to dirt produced a little improvement from him, but he continued to race in low level claiming races for most of his career. In October 2013, his breeder helped to find him a place with Finger Lakes Finest Thoroughbreds, Inc, a rescue and rehoming group. He is now in an adoptive home and starting a new career. Happily, he is as sound and as even tempered and kind as he was as a weanling, so Go For Two's future off the track looks bright. |
